September 23, 1949: Bruce Springsteen was born.

I still have the ticket stub from the first time I saw The Boss. I paid six dollars. I can’t remember the last time I payed only six dollars in service charges for a concert ticket.

Happy 59th birthday, Bruce!

September 12, 1975: Pink Floyd’s classic album, Wish You Were Here, was released.

This is my favorite Floyd album and has to be one of my Desert Island Discs. It’s hard to fathom that it was more than 30 years ago that I saw them perform this entire album, as well as all of Animals, at Milwaukee County Stadium. How time flies when you’re having fun!

September 11, 1943: Mickey Hart, one of the amazing drummers of the Grateful Dead, was born.

A pair of Mickey’s drumsticks occupy a special place in the Dead corner of my office. Check out the fall tour schedule for Mickey’s Global Drum Project.

In case you haven’t heard, the Dead are playing a benefit concert on October 13th. The city, venue and special guests will be announced soon.

Happy 65th, Mickey!
