Rock & Roll History: November 2
Kicking off a Monday morning (you sure look fine) with a little Rock & Roll History from November 2nd.
1944: The brilliant keyboard player Keith Emerson, from the fantabulous prog rock trio Emerson, Lake & Palmer, was born. As I write this I’m listening to their Desert Island Disc, Brain Salad Surgery.
1963: An utterly misguided reporter from the English newspaper Daily Express attempted to explain away the Beatles’ popularity by claiming the enthusiasm surrounding the Fab Four simply fills empty heads.
1968: Cream played Madison Square Garden as part of their farewell tour. Their Desert Island Disc and final album, Goodbye, features live tunes from the tour as well as studio recordings.
1973: Bob Dylan began recording the Desert Island Disc Planet Waves. I’ve always felt this exceptional album is vastly underrated.
1974: George Harrison kicked off his first solo tour with a concert in Vancouver. This was the for solo tour for any of The Beatles.

Brain Salad Surgery is an AMAZING piece of work. There is so much talent in that band.

It’s my favorite ELP album.
