Happy 66th birthday to the lovely Joni Mitchell.

I love Joni! She is one of the greatest singer-songwriters of all time. Fantastic songs and a voice that always resonates with me.

Twenty-some years ago I had a first date with a woman who invited me for a home cooked meal. At the time I was single and traveled a lot, so a home cooked meal was a luxury. Shortly after I arrived, she needed to tend to dinner and asked me to put on some music. As I approached the stereo, the first albums I saw were both Desert Island Discs. One was Carole King’s Tapestry and the other was Joni’s Court and Spark.

I freakin’ adore those albums and we ended up listening to both of them that night.We went out a few more times, but eventually decided the only thing we really had in common was music.

What made me think of this? She was the biggest Joni Mitchell fan I ever met.
