Rock & Roll History: November 9
A few events caught my eye on this day in Rock & Roll History:
1961: Brian Epstein met George Harrison and Paul McCartney for the first time after they played a luncheon gig at the Cavern in Liverpool. The rest, as they say, is history. He learned of the boys when customers of his record store asked for their single, “My Bonnie.”
1966: Roger McGuinn fired David Crosby from The Byrds. I’d say David landed on his feet.
1967: Rolling Stone magazine published its first issue with John Lennon on the cover. John would be featured on the cover three times within a year.
1969: Rod Stewart released his first solo album. It was called An Old Raincoat Won’t Ever Let You Down in England and The Rod Stewart Album here in the United States. I don’t know about you, but I greatly prefer the British title.
