Joe Walsh: Rock & Roll Wisdom
“You just turn your pretty head and walk away.”-Joe Walsh
I wonder if Joe Walsh read the wacky Danish philosopher Soren Kierkegaard before he wrote this song, as it was Kierkegaard who once said, “When I have a problem I walk, and walking makes it better.”
Henry David Thoreau said he needed to spend four hours a day walking to preserve his health and spirits.
I know this is true in my life. While I don’t typically walk for four hours, I do make it a priority to walk every day. And it does indeed make things better.
Whenever I have a problem, or the more politically correct ‘challenge’, I grab a backpack with a few essentials and simply walk until one of two things happens. Either I resolve the issue or I realize the only problem I have is with my screwed up thinking about the situation.
Walking is not only great exercise, but it brings great clarity to my frequently cloudy thought processes.
So the next time your life is perplexing, just turn your pretty head and walk away.
