After posting the amusing video of “One Toke Over the Line” from the Lawrence Welk Show, it’s only appropriate that we follow up with Brewer & Shipley’s classic version of the tune.

The funniest part of all this is then-Vice President Spiro Agnew labeled Brewer & Shipley as subversives due to this song. I think that qualifies as Rock & Roll Nonsense

Please! I adore The Who, but who (the question, not the band) are they kidding?

It’s incredibly naive to think we won’t get fooled again. We’ve all been fooled repeatedly, and quite often by ourselves. I know I’ve been a master at fooling myself more times than I can count. There are even people who refer to me as the fool on the hill.

To think we won’t get fooled again is folly. The issue is how we respond to being fooled, irrespective of whether we’re being fooled by ourselves or someone else. The best way I’ve experienced is to respond through humor. If we take ourselves so seriously that we can’t laugh at being fooled, then we’re probably not enjoying this rock and roll journey as much as we deserve to!

I sincerely apologize for not getting up a Roger Daltrey birthday post yesterday. Let the flogging begin.

“I Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More.”-Allman Brothers Band

God and everybody knows how much I love the Allmans…I was even wearing my ABB t-shirt yesterday. And for years I agreed with this sentiment, vowing to stop wasting time in order to get more done.

Over the last few years my thoughts on this matter have shifted significantly. Now I think it’s important to waste at least a little bit of time every day, even if it’s just a couple minutes.

My philosophy has further evolved as I’ve often said time is precious, so waste it thoughtfully. A few months ago I realized that was just too much freakin’ work and put too much pressure on me. I do not want to put thought into how I waste time, in large measure because that takes all the fun out of it!

My new mantra is time is precious, waste it THOUGHTLESSLY.

It’s a whole lot more enjoyable that way.

My therapist agrees.
