Dave Davies/The Kinks: Rock & Roll Birthday

Happy birthday Dave Davies!

Dave and his brother Ray were the core of the Kinks, one of the most significant bands of the British Invasion.

The Kinks were a truly fabulous group, one of the greatest in the history of rock & roll. I remember the first time I saw them in concert at the old Milwaukee Auditorium…I left the show thinking the Kinks are what rock & roll is all about. Turns out I was right.

I just wish the brothers Davies would get their shit together, kiss and make up, and do a Kinks tour before it’s too late.

In honor of  Dave’s birthday, let’s take a trip back in time to watch the Kinks doing “You Really Got Me.”

George Harrison’s lovely song, “My Sweet Lord,” from the Desert Island Disc All Things Must Pass, was released in the UK 40 years ago today.

Synchronistically, that was the same day John Lennon wrote and recorded “Instant Karma.”

Enjoy the video and have fun!
