The Rock and Roll Guide to Customer Loyalty

February 12, 2010 By: Joe Heuer Category: Rock & Roll Customer Service, Rock & Roll News, Rockin' Books 3 Comments →

I just finished writing The Rock and Roll Guide to Customer Loyalty yesterday. To the best of my knowledge, it’s the first book that interprets customer service & customer loyalty entirely through our favorite musical genre. It will be released this spring.

Part of the reason I haven’t been writing here much lately is cuz my attention has been on completing the book before our vacation.

Speaking of our vacation, we’re leaving tomorrow morning for lovely Belize, which is perfect timing since we just got a foot of snow this week. Another example of the rock & roll gods smiling on me.

Peace, love & joy to all.

I’m delighted and grateful to announce that my new book, #DREAMtweet: Enlightened Inspiration from a Rock and Roll Guru, is now available!

It was an incredibly joyful experience writing this one. I am blessed to be living my Rock & Roll dream, and I’m absolutely thrilled to share my process for making my own dream a reality.

I’m honored and elated that Jorma Kaukonen, founding member of both Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna, as well as a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, wrote the foreword for the book. Thanks, Jorma. I love you.

Rockin’ Book: Sex, Leadership and Rock ‘n’ Roll

November 20, 2009 By: Joe Heuer Category: Rockin' Books 3 Comments →

Sex, Leadership and Rock ‘n’ Roll: Leadership Lessons from the Academy of Rock by Peter Cook is simply outstanding. A witty, insightful and fresh look at leadership, with enough rock ‘n’ roll references to keep a smile on any rocker’s face.

Peter has written a truly original book that should be required reading for anyone who serves in a leadership role (or hopes to do so one day). There’s none of the nonsensical business jargon that litters the traditional boring, and often useless, management books out there.

This is a tremendously fun read that interprets the essential elements of leadership through rock & roll, with a dose of jazz and classical thrown in for good measure. When Cook talks about the MBA, he means Management by Attitude, NOT More Bloody Analysis.

He uses sex and drugs and rock ‘n’ roll as metaphors to expand our thinking, while keeping a safe distance from corporatespeak. In Cook’s vernacular, “sex is about making, keeping and ending work relationships, drugs is about motivating and leading others, and rock ‘n’ roll is about reaching and sustaining high performance.”

I particularly enjoyed the insightful commentary on the relevance of structure versus improvisation, and the tightrope leaders must often walk between the two.

This entertaining and engaging work is one of the best business books I’ve read in years.
