Rock & Roll Interview on The Ripple Effect

Here’s the link to the extended interview I did with Racer and Pope at the Ripple Effect. If you want to skip past the Norwegian heavy metal they played at the beginning of the show, my segment comes on at about the 18 minute mark.

These guys are a ton of fun and we’re gonna do it all over again in June right before Summerfest.

Thanks a bunch, guys!

Tomorrow (Wednesday) night I’ll be live with Racer and Pope on The Ripple Effect Blogtalk Radio show. These cats are a ton of fun so it is guaranteed to be a stone groove. They’ve also promised to play a few of my favorite classic rock tunes.

Tune in if you can…if not, you can download the show the next day. Here in the United States, I’ll be on at 11:15 EST, 10:15 CST & 8:15 PST.

Party on, Garth!

Rock and Roll Interview on The Cranky Middle Manager Show

August 11, 2008 By: Joe Heuer Category: Cool Rock & Roll Stuff, Rockin' Interviews 2 Comments →

I’m back. Thanks for all the emails. I just needed a break.

Last week I did a fun interview with Wayne Turmel on his show, The Cranky Middle Manager. We talked for quite a while about how the Rock and Roll attitude can help middle managers and anyone else in leadership positions.

It would have been really funny if he had put up our conversations before and after the interview, because Wayne is an absolute riot.

Daryl Stuermer

July 02, 2008 By: Joe Heuer Category: Rockin' Interviews No Comments →

One of my personal highlights so far from this year’s Big Gig was an opportunity to interview a monster guitar player and Milwaukee native Daryl Stuermer. Since the days of Sweetbottom in the 70’s, Daryl has been a major force not only on the local music scene, but internationally, as a member of Genesis and Phil Collins’ band.

Daryl estimates that he has played Summerfest approximately 100 times through the years (including three times in the last six days). I’ve seen a giant handful of those shows and Stuermer always delivers.

And check this out. We did the interview sitting on the John Lennon Educational Tour bus! How cool is that?

The fine folks at Summerfest will be posting the video of our interview at some point and I’ll make sure you can see it here as soon as it’s up.

Terry Stewart: President & CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

July 02, 2008 By: Joe Heuer Category: Rock & Roll News, Rockin' Interviews 2 Comments →

Yesterday I had the privilege of speaking with Terry Stewart, President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

Terry and 40 Rock Hall board members were in Milwaukee for a retreat last week, and they spent opening day at Summerfest. This was Terry’s third visit to our Big Gig, and it would be a serious understatement to say he was impressed.

When I asked for his overall impression of Summerfest, Stewart was effusive in his praise. “Fabulous. Unbelievable. Although Summerfest is the world’s largest music festival, it might be the best kept secret in music. You’ve got an amazing set of facilities in a beautiful location. You can walk five minutes and see everything from vintage legacy acts to the hottest new bands. Given the setting and the mix of artists, it’s such a wonderful way to experience music.”

We think so, too, Terry.

The Rock Hall sponsors the Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard and while they were here, Terry and the board members had the opportunity to see Hall of Fame inductees Eric Burdon & The Animals and Stevie Wonder, as well as The Briggs Bluesbusters and Gnarls Barkley.

Stewart said the Rock Hall board members absolutely loved their time in Milwaukee and they plan to come back on a regular basis.
