“The Other Side of This Life”-Jefferson Airplane

Pondering the meaning of this song, it occurred to me just how often things that appear on the surface are merely superficial, and that there truly is another side to this life.

Life is not always what it appears to be. There is always another side. Or, as Ringo said in the movie Help!, “There’s more here than meets the eye.”

For example, we are really more spiritual beings than physical beings. Essentially, we are spiritual beings having a brief human experience.

The other side of this life is that non-physical dimension, or spirit. Spirit is the part of us that cannot be burned by fire, nor dampened by the rain, nor blown away by the wind. It is the part of us that is eternal.

The spirit is who we truly are.

And that is the delightful other side of this life.
