Pete Townshend: Rock and Roll Birthday

Happy Rock & Roll birthday to the splendiferous Pete Townshend!

A true rock & roll legend, Pete is a founding member of The Who, perhaps the greatest live band ever. He is an extraordinary songwriter and composer, as well as one of rock’s most underrated vocalists.

Pete wrote most of the material recorded by The Who, including two brilliant rock operas, Tommy and Quadrophenia.

Additionally, he has had an amazing solo career. I’ve always thought the Desert Island Disc Rough Mix, Pete’s spectacular album with Ronnie Lane, is one of the finest recordings ever made.

“All of the rock music being aired today is demonically inspired. Any individual listening to it is entering into communion with a wickedness and evil spawned in hell.”~Jimmy Swaggert

And we all know how much credibility Jimmy Swaggert has.

Ironically, Jimmy is a cousin of Jerry Lee Lewis.

Stevie Wonder: Rock & Roll Philosophy

“You can’t base your life on other people’s expectations.”-Stevie Wonder

I wholeheartedly concur, Stevie. Trying to live up to someone else’s expectations is a recipe for disaster, as well as a huge waste of time. Life is way too short to worry about what anyone else thinks.

Happy Birthday, Stevie!

“I just dig audiences. That to me is the most worthwhile thing about this whole business. Just people coming to have a good time and letting me sing for them.” -Stevie Wonder

We dig you, too, Stevie!

Happy Rock and Roll Birthday to the amazing Stevie Wonder.

If you are thinking he’s gotta be older than 62, remember that Berry Gordy signed Little Stevie Wonder to Motown as when he was only eleven years old! Nice vision on that one, Berry.

Stevie is one of the legends who has provided the soundtrack of our lives, and for that I am immeasurably grateful.

In case you’re wondering, I’m listening to “Songs in the Key of Life.”

Speaking from the peanut gallery, I’d have to say you are undeniably both of those, Steve.

“You’ve got to create a dream. You’ve got to uphold the dream…”-Eric Burdon

It’s all about the dream. Without it, life is barely worth living…at least that’s what I think.

Happy Birthday, Eric!
