My Summerfest Priority Shows
The Big Gig kicks off today and before I head down, I wanted to share the top priorities on my schedule.
My top five Rock & Roll shows at Summerfest include:
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers with ZZ Top opening tomorrow
Eric Clapton with Roger Daltrey opening Monday
The Moody Blues on Wednesday
Carlos Santana with Steve Winwood opening next Thursday
The Levon Helm Band on Saturday July 3rd.
How’s that for some cool concerts?
My absolute top two shows involve my daughter Rachel’s jazz combo. They’re playing the Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard on Monday at noon, and on Tuesday three members of the combo are playing at noon on Summerfest’s hidden treasure, The Refugee Stage. The grooviest part of Tuesday’s gig is that my daughter Alex, Rachel’s twin, is gonna sit in with her viola for a few tunes.
I’ll definitely see a bunch more bands, but my entire schedule revolves around those gigs. There are some incredibly difficult decisions to make over the next 11 days, and I’ll keep you posted.

Great choices there, Joe! My priority acts I’m gonna see will be Tom Petty/ZZ Top on Sat. Yes on the 2nd. I’ve got tickets to see Rush on the 3rd and I will be watching the Counting Crows after that show.
