Keith Richards: Rock & Roll History December 18
December 18, 1943: Keith Richards was born.
Who out there would have been willing to bet Keef would live to see his 65th birthday? I think the Vegas oddsmakers called it a million to one longshot.
I’m certainly glad he’s still kicking. The Glimmer Twins did some of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen, and they are still electric onstage together.
Here’s a flashback moment. Do you remember your first Stones concert?

I remember because it was the first concert I ever went to.
Rufus w/Chaka Khan opened
The Eagles were the second act – this was their first tour with Joe Walsh
Then the Stones came on
It was FABULOUS!

I’ve heard you speak of that show with reverence for years. And I’m still pissed that you didn’t take me, even though I was only twelve at the time.

I also remember it partly because it was the very first concert I every went to!
Seattle, Seattle Center Arena, sometime in the late spring or early summer of 1975. I think I was not quite 16. My parents hesitated on letting me go with my (older) boyfriend, but caved in. I can thank them for that!
I remember he could only get “scalped” tickets. I think the tickets were about $10.00 normally and he paid $17.00 each for them, and we thought that was a huge expense. Could this be?
Friends and I waited in line all day to be up front — the atmosphere was totally wild, still kind of on the edge and dangerous.
I saw them a few other times after that, but this first concert is the only one I remember that well.
