Don Kirshner: Rock & Roll History
April 17, 1934: Don Kirshner was born.
Don Kirshner is a legendary music publisher, producer, promoter and manager. He was instrumental in the development of many artists, ranging from Carole King to The Monkees to Kansas.
With all his credits, and they are many, I think most of us remember him best as the dry host and producer of Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert. That show was pretty much a who’s who of classic rock in the 1970’s.
I remember sitting in the basement of my parents’ house…

I remember sitting there too….. or was it just a dream? In my memories there always seems to be a haze in the room….

Was it a purple haze?

Sometimes it was a purple haze. I particularly remember one summer, or wait, maybe I don’t remember. Do you?

I have The Eagles’ performance on Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert and it’s awesome! With special guests Linda Ronstadt and Jackson Browne. Great show and I’m glad that it was captured on video footage.

Do I know Frieds? I felt like I was blamed for alot of things too… Your mom always gave me that look.

I remember (vaguely) the night Linda Ronstadt and Jackson Browne were on with The Eagles.
Murph, I doubt that you know Frieds, but you, too, deserved the blame for a lot of things…and my mom gave everybody that look.
