Hunter S. Thompson: Rock & Roll Quote
“The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There’s also a negative side.”~Hunter S. Thompson
One of my all-time favorites from Uncle Duke.

Greetings Mistah Heuer….back to bug you juuuuust a bit…said quote by the great god Hunter was actually made in reference to the TV biz…I know you and MANY other authors have used it in relation to the music biz but it just ain’t right! How do I know this? Well, in good old rock’n'roll fashion, I can’t remember EXACTLY!?!?!
Seriously, HST’s widow adressed this MISquote about a year and a half ago on her WoodyCreek blog, and I, like the ALWAYS attentive reader that I am just read the post in great amazement and wonder at how all these authors could have gotten it so wrong…and what it came down to was that a Rolling Stone writer had used the quote thusly: “And to paraphrase Hunter’s proclamation about the tv industry, the music business is….”. Wild, eh???
PS A very minor note, I do realize your not in Cleveland, just that your attitude has Cleveland written ALL over it, and that this is a GOOD thing!!! Hope you are still tingling from the Springsteen workout; FANTASTIC news from the Boss that he and the E-St. band have many more miles to run; and that you are gettin’ ready for a ROCKIN’ LITTLE CHRISTMAS with the ones you love!!! Keep a smile….on the dial!

Wow! Thanks for setting the record straight, Dr. Bop. I had no idea. Like you, I’ve seen that hilarious quote for years, and just assumed…
I appreciate you clearing this up! Since I’ll probably forget and use the quote again at some point down the road, feel free to remind me again
